Training & Experience
Jane’s Bio
Twenty years of training, practice and teaching.
After graduating in 2003, Jane completed a post-graduate course in Aromatic Acupressure and Meridian Massage with the Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy.
She trained with Claire Montanaro between 2001–2004 to become a Reiki Master and Teacher in the Usui System of Natural Healing.
Jane enjoys providing a more traditional-style Indian Head Massage with chakra balancing and guided meditation in a seated position. She was trained by Geraldine Davis in 2002, gaining a distinction; Geraldine was taught by Narendra Mehta, the renowned blind osteopath and physiotherapist from India who brought “Champissage” to the United Kingdom in 1975.
Jane McPherson started Soul Soother Therapies in 2004. To support her teaching she completed the City & Guilds 7407 qualification for adult education, accredited by the University of Hull in 2009.
Jane enjoys utilising the minerals of the Earth — Gaia — within her offering of basalt and marble in LaStone Therapy, alongside crystal healing, using their energy, colour and stored wisdom. She offers LaStone therapy for relaxation, emotional release and remedial work. She trained with Mary Neilson, founder of LaStone Therapy, and continued her development between 2005–2020 with Jane Scrivener and current owner Lesley Masterson to Original Body Trainer level, and wrote a two-day workshop, LaStone Crystal Energy.
In 2015 Jane developed an interest in how complementary therapies can reduce the symptoms of some cancer treatments. She organised a CPD course at Holbeck Ghyll, Ambleside, for local therapists, run by Dr Peter Meredith, who set up the complementary therapies support centre at Christie’s, Manchester.
On returning to Masham in December 2017, she updated her knowledge of therapies and the cancer journey with two CPD courses at the Natural Health School, affiliated to the Harrogate NHS Trust at the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Day Centre, Harrogate — qualifying with an award in Cancer and Palliative Care, and the NHS Certificate in Complementary Therapies in a Clinical Setting, utilising reflexology.
In 2022 Jane trained to become a Yoga Teacher with Heather Yoga, Saltaire, Bradford, having taken up yoga for her own wellbeing and mental health in 2018. Teaching different styles allows her to bring all her skills together in one therapy.
She has taught the local community around Masham in village halls and at the spa hotels of Swinton Estate and Grantley Hall. Jane now spends more time in Edinburgh supporting her husband’s career, and is fortunate to return to their home in Masham regularly.
